An exercise from LD’s sketchbook demonstrating the non-visual, haptic quality of writing.

It is possible to develop writing through all of the senses. In this class, we will explore writing visually, by copying texts that we are not familiar with, and exploring your own handwriting. We will investigate how all of the senses can be engaged- by listening to poetry and music, and writing by touch. This workshop is part of a series that investigates the ways that the universal elements of line, pattern and texture, can be reflected through writing.

We will make a small portfolio of our paintings. All levels of experience are welcome.

The materials we use include fine point pens, graphite, watercolor, colored pencils and sumi ink.
